In the first ever National Solar Decathlon competition in 2002, the University of Colorado emerged victorious. The first-place trophy brought international recognition to CU and its partners as leaders in sustainable building design. With 507 media stories and over 100,000 visitors on the National Mall, the press was well represented both during the competition and in its aftermath.
